Pre-Pubescent Ponderings

I remember a time when jean short cut-offs and a t-shirt didn't matter...no matter where you were
When climbing over retaining walls and fences wasn't an issue because it was ok to explore
When shoeless adventures were encouraged and a walk in the woods was enough excitement to fill conversations for at least a week
When cartwheels on the front awn and a bicycle up and down one small stretch of sidewalk was entertainment for a whole afternoon
When strawberry milk was a "treat" and eating out meant Taco Johns or Subway
When Bon Jovi and Guns 'n Roses made me "feel" and kissing scenes in movies were embarrassing
When computer screens were green and there was no such thing as a mouse
When kicking and crying was an effective way to get what I wanted
When sucking on my thumb consoled and comforted me
When I sat at the "kid's table" and mom tucked me into bed every night
When telephone calls were few and far between and letters were the most effective way of long distance communication
When it was important to be home before dark and sleep in my own bed
